CORPORATION TO DEVELOP COMMUNITIES OF TAMPA, INC. TO RECEIVE
$26,950 IN EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FROM UNITED WAY SUNCOAST
Hillsborough, Fla. (May 19, 2020) – Corporation to Develop Communities (CDC) of Tampa, Inc. is committed to ensuring that those who have lost their jobs or experienced a reduction in pay due to COVID-19 in Hillsborough County have access to housing, utilities, and food. CDC of Tampa is pleased to announce that United Way Suncoast is providing the nonprofit $26,950 in emergency funding. The funds are part of a more than $1.5 million of COVID-19 emergency assistance from the United Way Suncoast’s COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund being distributed to human services agencies across the Suncoast to support housing/shelter, food, childcare, financial stability and mental health services.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with United Way to be able to respond to the urgent needs of our community residents that have been impacted by COVID-19,” states CDC of Tampa CEO, Ernest Coney. “Many of our residents were not sure where to turn for help, now we will be able to directly assist and stabilize them.”
CDC of Tampa will use the funds to provide rental and mortgage assistance, utility bill assistance, and emergency food assistance to those clients that have experienced a job loss or reduction in pay due to the COVID-19 crisis.
