Utilizing an array of leveraged public and private financing, CDC of Tampa builds affordable single-family homes, primarily on vacant, scattered-site, in-fill urban lots.  CDC of Tampa also rehabilitates neglected and/or foreclosed homes and restores them to quality, affordable, and attractive homes for first-time homebuyers, helping to boost the local real estate tax base while eradicating blight and neglect. In addition, CDC of Tampa, in partnership with the City of Tampa, rehabilitates homes owned by low-income seniors and disabled persons, bringing their homes up to code while preserving affordable home ownership.

The Beacon Homes project was a 13 unit, single family home development built in the heart of East Tampa. Financed through USAmeribank with additional funding from The Tampa Housing Authority and the East Tampa CRA, the project was completed in 2019.

In 1999, Bank of America donated a 24,000 square foot, two-story former banking center to CDC of Tampa. After nearly $500,000 in recent renovations, the building now serves as the home of a Suncoast Credit Union branch.

 

CDC of Tampa retains the leasing rights to the second floor of the building, which is currently managed by a professional firm.

In February 1999, CDC of Tampa completed the rehabilitation of a formerly abandoned full-service laundromat. The 2,700 square-foot facility has more than 25 washers, 24 dryers, a separate TV room, children’s playroom, and a community meeting room.

 

In 2007, CDC of Tampa sold the laundromat to a private minority for-profit investor who continues to maintain the business.
