Trades Pay Dividends! Workforce Development Center Wins!
Updated: Apr 26, 2019
WDC partner Painters On Demand wins with a triple play! Impressed with the effectiveness of our construction training program, hired several graduates and now send their new hires to us for OSHA 10 certification! This fee paid service, created a sustainable business revenue stream allowing us to fund additional Workforce Development Center training programs. Painters on Demand first became aware of our efforts to change lives through careers in the construction industry through a partnership we had with Rebuilding Tampa Bay.
Changing Lives & Pursuing Futures in Construction Trades: A three-way public private partnership was hammered out with Rebuilding Tampa Bay, Painters on Demand (POD) and the CDC of Tampa.
A win, win, win scenario realized.
The hard work of our trainees and Workforce Development Center (WDC) staff has prompted the partnership to flourish. Led by Chris Jimenez, the company has a long record of supporting non-profits in the community. Impressed with the WDC's programming, they now have employees who receive employment training from us, technical training they provide and real world experience while supporting the community.
Giving Back: POD's grant program made a difference in Jackson Heights, when we requested their help during NeighborWorks* week. Painters on Demand sent trainees to put a brand new coat of paint on an elderly Jackson Heights resident home and not only that, they granted us a full redo of our headquarters! The Chloe E. Coney Urban Enterprise Center is fresh and ready to help all those who cross through our doors! Being the innovators that they are, it was a win, win, win when we saw our own trainees on the job!
