"Last tax season, we prepared 251 tax returns--a new record for our site. These 251 returns yielded more than $300,000 in tax refunds to Hillsborough families," said Stephen Ponzillo, CDC of Tampa's Director of Communications & Partnerships.
Just over $130,000 from these refunds was the result of the Earned Income Credit—a refundable tax credit for low- to moderate-income working individuals and couples, particularly those with children.
Ponzillo added, "We couldn't be more grateful to our corporate and community volunteers who drive this entire program. They are ready to make 2018 our most impactful season yet! Special thanks goes to our volunteers from Suncoast Credit Union, University of Tampa and the National Association of Black Accountants - Tampa Bay Professional Chapter."
