Coleman Bell was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. He attended public schools in Hillsborough County (Lomax, College Hill, Booker T. Washington and Middleton Senior High). He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A & M University (Mathematics) and his Master of Science from the University of South Florida (Administration & Supervision).

Coleman Bell is presently the Director of Youth & Family Services for the Corporation To Develop Communities Of Tampa. He is also a professor at the University of Phoenix, Tampa Campus. Coleman Bell exhibits a passion for kids, prior to his current job assignment he was employed with the School District of Hillsborough County for over thirty-two years, serving in various capacities which included: Mathematics Teacher, Mathematics Department Chairman, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal, Middle School Principal and High School Principal. Coleman Bell also served as President of the Board of Directors of Tampa Educational Television.
